Default camping & bank holidays -shocking prices!!!

Hiya folks!!

ive been looking for somewhere to go for may bank holiday (the one at the end, lol!)(suggestions welcomed, but sensible prices please)

i am gobsmacked at the prices they are charging! whats going on??? i dont want to buy the pitch, just borrow it for a couple of nights!!!

who would really be happy with paying nearly £70 for a average campsite pitch, minimum stay 3 nights (what happends if you can only get 2 days off work? pay anyway?? )

Am i the only one that thinks it stinks??? i think i will stick to my local campsites from now on!

Anyone for brandy wharf???

We always use the THS sites with the C&CC, apart from the cost they go to some lovely places.

i think we are heading down that route , allen

i know that the c&cc have cl`s & cs and a very good value BUT ..... (dont shoot me for this!!!) that they are usually in a farmers field & can be in the middle of nowwhere & usually own san essential.

i can handle all that, its the thought that they have a 5 van rule - it would drive me nuts!!!!

i like a campsite to have a bit of life about it, a bit of a buzz about the place ( and i dont mean noise or particulary big)

i dont think you would get that on a cl or cs, due to lack of campers?

In that case, you may find the CS's a bit quiet for you Skezza, but the THS's are quite lively, though you will usually find they are own san. ess. Take your own san., and enjoy getting back to nature.

Last year we went off to troutbeck in the lakes, lovely site- very posh!

But in the week there was nobody there, it was like a ghost town, the campsite was full of seasonal tourers

i felt like i was in an episode of "the league of gentlemen" - very eerie at night!

Dont want to do that again!!!!

I enjoy a quiet few days camping, but I like a bit of life too, variety is the spice of life.

Crikey.

I was grumbling at the prices our regular site has put their prices up to. £45 per night in high season!!

It works out an expensive trip - we could probably go abroad and be guaranteed some sunshine for that

We're planning on going to York in the middle of August, 20 minutes walk along the River Ouse into the centre. £7 per night.

Hoping the site we are booked on is good as its costing £24.50 a night. Dont normally pay so much but wanted to go somewhere different to usual and could not find THS's near enough. We are planning on spending and evening driving along the coast looking at THS so know where we could go next year.

blimey Anne, that's alot for a seasonal pitch ours is £1,300 a year but none seasonas is around £22 at peak season, 10 min walk to beach or village and outdoor swimming pool

where have you booked in France, asume you have sorted a tent out, what did you buy?

Sue.

We have put the camping in a tent on hold for now... we are still going to France, but are staying in a luxury 4 bed villa with pool... oops...

Yeah - the campsite isn't a seasonal pitch. We store it there, and when we want to stay the staff pull it on to a pitch and we ;pay the regular nightly rate. In peak season it is £45 - which is for 2 adults and up to 4 children. That is t wice as much as it used to be, but they are charging that because it is 'all inclusive', meaning that you can use the pool/golf/bowls etc all of which you had to pay for previously. Unfortunately it is often just me and hubby and we don't want to do all the sports stuff - so it is pricey. Am looking around for an alternative, but we do quite like the site and surrounding area.
Hope you having a relaxing time!

Gosh that is a lot of money for a nightly pitch. I would want waiting on hand and foot for that
